Linux Desktop: introduction
Linux Desktop is developped as an open source project. Linux console (the black screen) is available when you connect to the cluster, but with limited graphic capabilities.
Before using Linux Desktop¶
Linux Desktop runs on a single node. In order to manage the number of users, we ask you to request an access to the resource:
- First connect to the Resource request Web page.
- Ask for an access to the visualization nodes:
Visu node (interq)
The access will be granted for 3 months (and will be probably extended when we will have more experience).
Why and when using it?¶
Our solution is not meant for everyday use: we simply do not have the resources for it. Remember that all jobs will run on a single node, with 128 cores, and 512GB RAM.
As a consequence, we ask you to use this resource when you need graphics, for instance for IGV, JuiceBox, etc.
